This majestic dome of the Oriental Carpathians and of the entire Moldavian land, with its aura of the millennia-old geological turmoil that pushed it majestically and proudly from the bottom of the ocean has been blessed with centuries of people stopping for a while in its clearings, grottos and its pastures to hunt, pray, and graze their sheep.
Looking from the surrounding area or from Ceahlău’s peaks, the eye has always rejoiced at and the soul has always been penetrated by nature’s eternal miracle, forever lively and overwhelming… When you are up on Ceahlău, there is always a choice between the limitless horizon sometimes opening toward the seashore and the magnificent, overwhelming of the cliffs, the stony towers, shelves or walls.
You feel as if ca in a huge and impressive open air museum, displaying uniquely varied exhibits and their tales told by the names they bear: Dochia, Panaghia, Toaca, Dorobanţul, Călugării, Piatra Lăcrămată, Turnul lui Butu, Poliţele cu crini, Detunatele – and many, many others… They a truly impressive creation daringly and generously displayed as a sign of the strength one feels coming from deep down as well as from up in the so tender and clear skies of a fair weather…
