Petru Voda Monastery
Located in a beautiful glade in the mountains Stânişoarei, Petru Voda Monastery is one of the important centers of pilgrimage in the post-revolutionary Romania. It was founded in 1991, first as a hermitage by Father Iustin Pârvu, confessor and the first abbot of the famous monastic settlement, together with two monks disciples who accompanied him.
The church was built on a concrete foundation, and in 1992 were able to officiate religious services. Fame of the founder father went to the four horizons, thus that quickly, the congregation gathered around him. In 1993 the buildings have already been built for the abbey, the cells, the kitchen, the guest rooms. In 1994, the hermitage becomes a monastery dedicated to Saints Michael and Gabriel. In the monastery arose at the initiative of the Father, and was built by the care and zeal of the Great Romanian Confessor, a hospital with 14 rooms for internal diseases, general medicine, physiotherapy, which facilitates access to healthcare in a place free from such institution. Within the monastery complex built and then named Paltin, it works, too, an elderly house – St. Pantelimon- patron of the philanthropic settlement, an orphanage for children – The Mother of God Roof, Iustin Pârvu Foundation , originally called Petru Voda , who coordinates the medical-social activities of the two monastic establishments, Petru Voda and Paltin, an establishment for nuns – Maple Monastery, where minister over a hundred nuns, consecrated in 2008, dedicated to the Assumption, a laboratory where are prepared natural remedies of medicinal herbs, creams, tinctures and oils for various diseases, but also jams and dainties, which can be bought from the naturist store Paltin. Also it was established Petru Voda Monastery Publishing House, Magazine Atitudini (Attitudes) and Paltin Radio, which transmits live the religious service.
The tomb of Father Archimandrite Iustin Pârvu, considered the Voivode of Romanian monasticism is in cemetery of Petru Voda Monastery, the place in which are resting forever priest Gheorghe Calciu Dumitreasa too, and the poet of the communist prisons – Radu Gyr.
