Traditional architecture in Neamt County
Neamt County villages still maintain traditional buildings that represent true life documents about the people that used to live in these parts. These buildings are usually smaller and are constructed using simple techniques. The people that lived in these villages made their own houses and after that they contributed to other bigger and important buildings in the village like the church or the school.
The most important building from a traditional local household was the main house that had a small hall called “tinda” and only one small room. In time they started to build houses with two rooms and a verandah with a beautifully carved wood railing. The interior of the house was decorated with carpets and wood furniture.
The house was one of the buildings that composed a traditional household. We also encounter the place where the cattle were kept. Another important element was the front gate that was made from hard wood with a tall roof and imposable dimensions.
