Pilgrimage on Ceahau Mountain
Monday, August 6 2012 took place on Ceahlau Mountain the celebration of “Schimbarea la Fata” and “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” Monastery from the top of the mountain. Just like every year the religious service was held by Mitropolit Teofan together with other priests. Numerous pilgrims from all over the country were expected to come to the top of the mountain.
The religious program began with a day before with a special religious service and continued on Agust 6. Orthodox believers of all ages come to this place year after year with the occasion of this religious holiday. No matter the water pilgrims climb on foot few km to experience this moment on top of Ceahlau Mountain.
Over time hundreds of believers prayed on Ceahlau Mountain, considered to be the holy mountain of Romania, similar to Athos Mountain in Greece.
The monastery from the top of Ceahlau Mountain was built with the help of believers who helped caring the construction materials.
