Between March 9 and May 2 2012 at the History and Archeology Museum from Piatra Neamt visitors will have the chance of visiting a thematic exhibition called “In vizita la strabunici” (“Visiting our great grandparents”).  The exhibition has about 150 objects from the Neamt County museum, Cotroceni Museum and The Union Museum from Iasi.

The exhibition contains two replicas of interiors, the first being a boyar’s house from the end of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX century and the second is a peasant’s house that shows us how people lived 100 – 150 years ago.

Visitors will also have the chance to see traditional furniture, fashion accessories, specific to the era and old photograph cameras. As special objects we can list the desk of the prefect Leon Bogdan and the evening dress of Lucia Sturza Bulandra.

The exhibition has a cultural and pedagogical purpose that shows us a glimpse from the past and ways in which people used to live.

From a technical point the exhibition “In vizita la strabunici” (“Visiting our great grandparents”) sums up a professional performance because it is the result of a creative concept that transcends the usual perception of a museum as a place with “old stuff” to something dynamic and expressive.
