Neamț Fortress Days – Pax inter Urbes, June 29-30, 2024
A new edition of the “Neamț Fortress Days – Pax inter Urbes” Festival is coming up!
On June 29 and 30, 2024, locals and tourists are invited to the fortress’ base in Târgu-Neamț for another hot edition featuring cannon salutes, the sound of trumpets and drums, knight camps, weapon and armor exhibitions, delicious traditional dishes, fire shows, and impressive historical reenactments recalling significant battles documented in history and literature.
Like the previous edition, the stadium at the fortress’ base will buzz with activities from the knight camps, workshops for young archers, and a wide variety of medieval exhibitions showcasing cannons, halberds, swords, sabers, arquebuses, helmets, shields, chainmail, bows and quivers of arrows, minting, and much more. One of the highlights for children will be medieval-style face painting, and another focal point will be the local products fair featuring delicious Moldavian dishes, crafts, and traditional items, a true EcoBrunch unique to the Bison Land in Neamț.
On the first day, the highly anticipated Parade of the Fortress, Knight Orders and medieval costumes will take place at 6:00 PM, followed by the official opening, a concert by the Basil Anastasescu Choir, and a fire show at dusk. At the amphitheater, near the stadium, also at the fortress’ base, the public can enjoy a recital by Ovidiu Lipan Țăndărică, Stelu Enache, Diana Bucșa, and the 10 Prăjini Fanfare starting at 8:00 PM.
On the second day, Sunday, at 8:00 AM, the Holy Liturgy will be officiated in the Neamț Fortress Chapel and at 3:00 PM in the outer courtyard, there will be a historical reenactment of “Sobieski and the Romanians.” The festival will conclude with a performance by the Zdob și Zdub band at the Amphitheater at 8:00 PM.
