Autumn splendour in Bicaz Gorges and Bicăjel Valley

28 October 2022 No Comment

“Autumn is a sweet symphony, living art, reverberating with thousands of colors.” Valeria MAHOK
“Anyone who thinks fallen leaves are dead has never watched them dancing on a windy autumn day.” Shira Tamir

Mesmerizing autumnal tones are scattered all over the high rocky walls that seem to meet in the sky, making one of the most spectacular and sought-after tourist areas in Romania even more beautiful: welcome to Bicaz Gorges in Neamț Couty!

The serpentine road which crosses the area departs from Bicazu Ardelean village and ends at Lacul Roșu (Red Lake) Resort. A particularity of this route is given by the impressive rock formations which delineate the road from one side to the other: the Altar Rock – 1120 m, Pinteștilor Rock – 847 m, Arșiței Rock – 835 m, Surducului Rock, the Stone Gate and Bardos Rock Ridges.

Bicaz Gorges, with the windy road that connects Transylvania with Neamț County, is a nature’s masterpiece formed as the result of the continuous rock erosion by River Bicaz and mountain streams. Picturesque and amazing due to its majestic scenery, the mountain canyon was formed in centuries of geological evolution, now displaying breath taking rocky walls, with numerous waterfalls and caves.

Behind the impressive rocks, another corner of heaven is hidden: Bicăjel Valley. Along the valley is a picturesque mountain village with alpine pastures and traditional houses scattered on the hill slopes, and in autumn everything is magically transformed: the place becomes a symphony of colours. You can catch a glimpse of the nature wonder below:

Also starting from Bicaz Gorges, more exactly from Podul Ungurilor (the Hungarians’Bridge), tourists can embark on another amazingly adventurous route towards Bicăjel Gorges.
Thank you, Iulian Radu, for such wonderful pictures!
