From Ceahlău Massif to the Black Sea

A water adventure: 10 kayaks, 20 people, 9 days

An extremely ambitious project awaits you in Neamț County

Plai Verde” Association in collaboration with “Green Ties” Association, “Ivan Patzaichin – 23 Mile” Association and “Ceahlăul” Local Club in Piatra Neamț set the basis of the project Wild Canoeing Tour, a reenactment of the raftsmen journeys.

Until the 1950s when the construction works for Bicaz Dam began, raft floating was one of the basic skills of the locals on Bistrița River Valley, that passes through Suceava and Neamț counties.

In the memory of those times and also willing to live the adventure of exploring the nature’s beauty that never ceases to impress us, WILD CANOEING TOUR begins on the 14th of August 2020 in Ceahlău commune, on the Lake Izvorul Muntelui.

On the following day, the route will lead you towards Lake Bâtca Doamnei at “La Caiace (Kayaks)” in Piatra Neamț and then all the participants can go towards Bacău, Adjud, Pădurea Merișor Natural Reservation, Nămoloasa village, Șendreni, Isaccea. The route will also lead the participants towards Tulcea and Maliuc. Sulina will be the ending point of the route. The entire event will include camping sessions, water skiing, fun games, music, dancing and bathing in the sun in Sulina.

On the route, the participants will be able to see how Bistrița River flows into the Siret River and the Siret, in its turn, flows into the Danube. They will enjoy the wildlife and the nature, while recreating the Raftsmen Journey.

Raft floating on Bistrița River Valley was considered a reference point, a milestone regarding raft floating in Romania. Nowadays, the raft floating stories can be found only in the various papers of those times that are currently kept as a testimonial and only the tourists would be interested in raft floating on Bistrița River Valley.
