Daniel Ciobanu, the young piano-player from Piatra-Neamț and a ”V. Brauner” Arts High school graduate, has started playing the piano at the age of 9 and became one of the most famous Romanian piano-players.

”My aim is to make people understand that music means harmony. The harmony between two instruments can be imediately translated into the harmony between two people (…)  Any piece of music lives through harmony. If most of the people would understand the language of music, then they would also understand the beauty of life (…)

There are times when two sounds / notes seem to be in conflict, but soon after they sound good together, they are in harmony with one another. I am trying to do exactly the same thing at this festival. I am trying to build here in Piatra Neamț a place where music is valued by the means of the different cultures brought together by people from all around the world, not just musicians, but also by our guests. It’s as if it was the locals’ most important life’s philosophy. At the end of the festival the public will have felt this merge as a natural binding of cultures, which joins the community / the town in one big happy family.

I hope that the people from Piatra Neamț can include this music / this beautiful experience in their daily life and make out of this town a better place”. Daniel CIOBANU

The project is based on sensitivity and smART thoughts, a motionARThoughts concept and carried out with a lot of talent and inspiration by Brîndușa Maria Balan.

After the first 2 successful editions, Neamț Music Festival joined the famous ”George Enescu” International Festival tour in 2019.

Daniel Ciobanu, piano-player and artistic director of Neamț Music Festival stated: ”At its third edition, being under the aegis of the ”George Enescu” International Festival, doesn’t just make us believe that we are on the right track, but it also gives us the ”trambuline” on which we are able to jump even higher so as all the wonderful things that happen at each begining of autumn to be seen from all around the world”.

In 2019 the festival changed its course towards duality. It’s maybe the easiest and most suitable definition of the world, described in just one word. If any phenomenon has a counterpart, a pair or an opposite side, starting from the most common ones (hot-cold, day-night, up-down) and up to the most complex ones (reason-sensitivity, physical-spiritual), how could music be any different?

From the multitude sounding possibilities, each of the 4 festival days presented a different scenario.
