Trips in the picturesque area of Neamţ County
One day through the villages and forests of Neamţ
The route explores the geographic and ethnographic area of the Neamţ River Basin, also known as Ozana. Hiking here is very exciting as as it implies crossing the territory of the Vânători-Neamţ Natural Park, one of the main touristic attractions of Neamţ County, characterized by a great variety of fauna and flora.
Neamţ Monastery stands as the departure point, then tourists can cross the woods to the Neamţ Valley, paying a visit at Vânători-Neamţ Natural Park. After exploring the area of the park and its wonders, tourists can get to Târpeşti village by car, where one can find the largest ethnographic, archeological and folk art collection of Neamţ: “Popa” Museum. The day ends with another hiking (route of medium difficulty) in the Stânişoara Mountains with its delightful, breathtaking views. The descent route leads to Magazia Village, from where tourists can get back to Piatra Neamţ by car.

Hiking trail in Stânişoara Mountains
The route stretches over a day and combines hiking through the wild forests of Neamţ with recreational and amusements activities in Negreşti’s Adventure Park. Leaving Piatra Neamţ, tourists take a trip to Almaş where they can visit Almaş Monastery. The hiking itself starts towards the wooded ridges that make the passage to Horaiţa and Negreşti. The climb is smooth most of the route, followed by a ridge trail, with a picnic stop at the top. The descent takes the tourists to the “Active Park” in Negreşti – an adventure park well-known and appreciated by visitors all around the country, which is organized as a recreation area with paintball/airsoft, archery, Milsim, children’s playground, relaxation areas, mountain bike trails, etc. Park visitors can practice tree climbing (on climbing nets) as well as birdwatching and walking in nature.

An active day in the Hăşmaş National Park – Bicaz Gorges
The journey starts from the spectacular Bicaz Gorges, located at a distance of approx. an hour (50 km) from Piatra Neamt. The first part of the day can be dedicated to sports activities – climbing (in which case tourists are strongly advised to use an adequate equipment), the second part of the day being reserved to trecking – for the purpose of discovering the natural and anthropogenic beauties of the Şugăului Gorges and Munticelu Peak area. Following a medium difficulty trail which passes through forests, limestone cliffs and plateaus located on the territory of Bicaz Chei village, tourists can discover and be amazed by the local ethnography: summer houses and gardens separated by wooden fences are strung along the south-eastern slope of the ridge up to the 1400m altitude, while on the north-west slope the forests of wild spruce, the inaccessible cliffs and specific fauna make up the typical landscape of the Oriental Carpathians.
