Spend your weekend in Neamţ!
If you come in Neamţ and have two free days, don’t miss visiting some memorable places! In the first part of the day, just after the breakfast, we invite you to visit Calistrat Hogaş Memorial House in Piatra Neamţ, a permanent exhibition of family documents, manuscripts, original furniture and belongings of the writer.
Once you have discovered the impressive universe of a man whose life was dedicated to traveling and who wrote the emblematic literary work “On mountain roads” (Romanian “Pe drumuri de munte”), it’s time to go ahead and see for yourself the beauty of the landscapes Calistrat Hogaş and other famous Romanian writers and poets praised in hundreds of pages of literature.
You may have lunch at a restaurant in the city or at a nearby hostel, then you can drive towards Bicaz Gorges (Romanian “Cheile Bicazului”), one of the most famous gorges in Romania. There, the spectacular nature reaches maximum odds. From the terrible abyss known as the Strangle of Hell (Romanian “Gâtul Iadului”) and the high peaks majestically dominated by the Altar stone (Romanian “Piatra-Altarului”) – 1,154 m, to the astounding notch of the serpentines, the traveler remains speechless in front of the exciting and fascinating landscapes. The place is also a real challenge for the adrenaline-driven hikers and climbers.
In the evening, you can head towards the Bicaz town and Izvorul Muntelui chalet.
The next day, we propose you a tour on Izvorul Muntelui Lake by boat, water bike or mini-yacht. The lake is also called “the sea between mountains” and it’s impressive, being the largest artificial lake in Romania.
Then, you may head to Durău resort situated at the foothill of the Ceahlău Massif, about an hour away, where you will definitely experience moments of peace and relaxation. If you wish, you can also visit Durău Monastery or, if you like, take the road of Ceahlău tracks, a journey full of delight.
