Lake Izvorul Muntelui – the sea between mountains
Yes, The Lake Izvorul Muntelui is the Sea between the mountains. Imagine a mirror of water with a length of about 35 km, an area of about 32 square kilometers, deployed behind a dam high over 120 m. The dock built near the dam (Bicaz Port Naval Touristic Complex) is where the recreational races on the lake, starts. In the port exists a floating hotel, accommodation cottages and also a floating terrace to serve fish dishes and moldovan specific cuisine. If we came with friends and we want to take a ride on the lake to discover new beauties, we can rent a boat, a hydro-bike, a barge, or simply, to embark on one of the small ships (Resita or Tuşnad) for a mini-cruise to Poiana Teiului Viaduct, from Coada Lacului, as how he got the place name. During the stroll on the waves of the lake, from the deck we will notice pensions sticking its red roofs from trees, panorama with the villages of the montane perched on the hills and down with the houses close to the shore until we see, of course, the Viaduct and mysterious stone of Piatra Teiului. Then, after the boat turns on the way back, we admire other enchanting landscapes, especially when we enter into a small estuary that forms the creek Izvorul Alb at the confluence with the waters of the lake, we will see Ceahlau how is reflected on the surface of the lake, campsites, hostels and cottages from the landscaped area of Baicu, beauty that will remain in our heart. If we stay another day we can visit a nearby tourist sheepfold, using the services of the Bicaz Port Naval Touristic Complex. In another train of thoughts, the lake has the status of Aquatic Reserve. In its depths are teeming species of chub, barbel, perch, broad snout, pig, roach, famous huchen, bleak and of course trout. Therefore, we will see many fishermen on the banks of the lake, trying their mastery. The depths of the lake apparently are hiding ancient treasures. The divers from here have recently discovered, at the bottom of the lake, slabs with rune, remnants of a cemetery Pelasgian (Pelasgians are the oldest population on the mainland, who spoke a protolatin language). Interestingly is that on all the Bistrita river, further upstream, has been found a plate with a writing older than 10,000 years, belonging to the same population. Even if not publicly accessible would not sound interesting: The Museum from the bottom of the lake?
