Annunciation at Horaiţa Monastery
Near the monastery Horaiţa, a few hundred meters, on the uphill road is Horaicioara Hermitage or Horaicioara Veche, that exists there since 1466, as recorded document mention in the porch of the church. Beause the hermitage had no church, at the behest of Prince Stephen the Great in 1480, is built, the first church (wooden) dedicated to the Annunciation. After more than 400 years, at the Hermitage, a stone church was built (1868), in which is found the miraculous icon of Our Lady, one of the wonders being the emergence of a spring near the church, whose water is considered to have curative properties. Its existence has, in addition to Annunciation dedication, to be elected a second patron: The Healing Spring, celebrated immediately after Easter. Annunciation or Blagovestenia, recalling the day when the Archangel Gabriel announced to Mary that it would give birth to Jesus, is celebrated by Christians from the earliest times (about 1500 years) and is marked every year on March 25, nine months before Christmas. This day, the Annunciation is a blessing for the family, for all parents who give birth. On this day of celebration, the Annunciation, at Horaita and Horaicioara the service is great and, being a day of absolution, the faithfull are feast with fish dishes monastic cooked.
