Bâtca Doamnei Lake
Formed in 1962, when it was constructed the hydropower plant with the same name, the lake is situated at an altitude of 325 meters, has an area of 240 hectares, the maximum width of 1 km, length of 3.2 km and a depth of about 15 meters. It is fed by the river Bistrita and brook Doamna, right affluent of the lake. Bâtca Doamnei Lake is located right at the edge of Piatra Neamt County, near the city’s ring road, at the exit towards Bicaz. Being an oasis of tranquility and recreation for residents and visitors of Piatra Neamt, the area offers a spectacular view of the Bistriţa Valley. The lake is been sought by fishermen and for different species of fish that can be caught here, including bleak, Clen, pigs (gudgeon gudgeon), broad snout, boiştean (similar to bleak), trout and carp. Due to favorable climate, Bâtca Doamnei Lake is a halt point, sometimes extended for migratory birds heading towards southern Europe and the Danube Delta. Thus Bâtca Lady on the lake, can be admired the graceful and novel birds such as swans summer, grebes, Merganser, silver seagulls and even several species of cormorant.. The waters of the lake surrounds the steep of Bâtcă Doamnei, on which shelf lay hidden the ruins of Dacian fostress Petrodava. Downstream is The Swimming Pool and The Horse Base, more reasons that this area not to be avoided by tourists that are visiting our city.
