“Large garden” of Roman
A tourist attraction, a refuge and a place of relaxation for both adults and children of all ages is the Roman Municipal Park. It is full of greenery and walkways shaded by trees whose crowns towering oppose burning rays and the heat of the summer, so fully appreciated by visitors.
Lake park has three islands:
- Brancusi Island where you will find copies of works of art “Brancusi”: Table of Silence and Endless Column.
- Island with waterfall where alleys with benches prevailing lower part of it, and on the high side is a waterfall (hence the name) and a platform for observation of the creatures on the latter island.
- Creatures Island is a small reserve, for birds and animals only, public access is prohibited. Here we find swans, peacocks, ducks, chickens, squirrels and partridges which were arranged shelters based on the ground or in trees. A boat ride around the island helps you discover the creatures here.
Iassy Plastics Science Fund built in the park Rotonda Writers with 10 busts of the great men of culture: Miron Costin, Mihail Kogălniceanu, Vasile Alecsandri, Ion Luca Caragiale, Alexandru Vlahuță, George Coșbuc, Mihail Sadoveanu, Ion Creangă, Mihai Eminescu and George Enescu. În foişorul din apropiere, pe timpul verii, cântă fanfare sau alte grupuri muzicale. The nearby gazebo, in the summertime, are singing bands and other musical groups.
Roman Municipal Park also offers tourists accommodation, a restaurant and a playground for children in the summertime, but in winter is transformed into a rink.
Since 2011, in the park is working a new building, the Roman Museum of Natural Sciences who offers visitors a rich collection of birds and animals from the Roman area.
