This year, on July 2nd, 2014, we celebrated 510 years since the death of Stephen the Great who was the ruler of Moldova for 47 years.The qualities of the politician man, strategist and diplomat, his actions to safeguard the integrity of the country and culture development initiatives led to admiration of the contemporaries, becaming a popular hero. Pope Sixtus IV himself , (1414 – 1484) called him “Athleta Christi” (the athlete of Christ), and people sang him in ballads.

In Piatra Neamt, on July 2nd,was held a symposium dedicated to stepheniene foundations. The Meeting “Stepheniene foundations in Neamţ and surroundings” was held in the Hall “Calistrat Hogaş” Neamt County Council, marking 22 years since the canonization and the celebration of 510 years since the passing away of St. Stephen The Great.
