Mountain trails on Ceahlau Mountain
Ceahlau is the most imposing mountain from the Eastern Carpathians and is a true natural fortress. Many tourists come here to hike or to just spend some time in the nature. The treasures of this mountain wait for tourists to discover them by hiking on the trails that lead your footsteps in places of rare beauty.
There are three access points for tourists in Ceahlau Mountain. The most used ones are Izvorul Muntelui and Durau Resort. The third gateway in Ceahlau is on the route Bicazul Ardelean – Bistra – Stanile Plane.
Tourists can reach the top of the mountain by hiking on one of the 7 touristic marked routes:
Route 1 – Izvorul Muntelui Chalet – Maicilor Plane – Dochia Chalet marked with a red line and 6-7 hours long
Route 2 – Izvorul Muntelui Chalet – Lutu Rosu – Dochia Chalet marked with a blue line and 3-4 hours long
Route 3 – Izvorul Muntelui Chalet – Dochia Stone – Jgheabu cu Hotaru – Dochia Chalet marked with a blue triangle and 3-4 hours long
Route 4 – Durau Resort – Vesuri Plane – Duruitoarea Waterfall – Dochia Chalet marked with a red line and 3 – 3 hours and 30 minutes long
Route 5 – Durau Resort – Fantanele Chalet – Dochia Chalet marked with red cross and 4-5 hours long
Route 6 – Bicazul Ardelean – Telec – Stanile Plane – Dochia Chalet marked with blue line and 7-8 hours long
Route 7 – Neagra village – Varatec Plane – Maicilor Plane – Dochia Chalet marked with blue cross and 6-7 hours long
Touristic trails on Ceahlau Mountain
On the territory of Ceahlau National Park there are also three protected areas: the scientific reservation “Ocolasul Mare”, the natural reservation “Polita cu crini” and the monuments of nature Duruitoarea Waterfall and the Big Aven.
