The Festival “Florile Ceahlaului” the national selection

04-festivalul-florile-ceahlaului-martie-2014The national contest festival of traditional music for children and youth “Florile Ceahlaului” the XXVI edition that is organized by “Carmen Saeculare” Cultural and Art Center has reached its second phase of national selections. This stage of the event will take place at Tineretului Theater.

Saturday March 1 from 14:00 will start the contest children with ages between 8 and 15 at folkloric canto and Sunday March 2 from 09:00 will be on the stage the age category of 16 to 25 years from folkloric canto. The final category will begin at 19:00 and will be traditional instruments. The 19 contestants from these days are as follows: 13 from traditional canto and 6 from traditional instruments.

For the actual contest, the participants from the canto section will have to present a song called “doina”, an authentic piece representative for their ethnographic area. The song will have to be performed with instrumental accompaniment and the participant will also have to provide a description of the costume he or she will wear. At the traditional instruments category the participants will present two songs from the Romanian folklore that are different as genre, character and style. The musical accompaniment will be provided by the orchestra of “Floricica de la Munte” band, directed by Ciprian Vasiliu.

The jury is formed by Emil Havriliuc from Suceava as the president of the jury, Elena Florescu, Delia Stoian Irimie from the Musical Faculty from Piatra Neamt, Mircea Campeanu (representing the County Center for Conserving and Promoting Traditional Culture from Cluj), Laurentiu Ursache from Radio Iasi, Adrian Ardeleanu director at Iasi Center of Folkloric Creations. The jury will also have two more members from Neamt County Council and “Carmen Saeculare” Cultural and Art Center. The entrance is free.
