Temporary exhibition at the History and Archeology Museum from Piatra Neamt
The History and Archeology Museum from Piatra Neamt hosts the temporary exhibition “Security – an instrument of dictatorship”. The exhibition can be visited between February 12 and March 05 2014. The organizers of the exhibition arte the National Council for Studying the Security’s Archives, Neamt County Museum Complex and Neamt County Schools Inspectorate.
The exhibition wants to present in an accessible way the history of over four decades of the Security with its faces, supporting a better understanding of the phenomenon.
The exhibition is organized in two levels. The first level presents secret documents of the Security and its main methods of tracking and repression: surveillance, arresting the persons that were against the communist regime, the investigations, the inhuman treatments, censorship methods, directing informers, watching and confiscating the mail and so on.
An important sequence in the exhibition consists in the presentation of the year 1989 and the events from that December. The event is presented with images from the archives of the Security.
The second level of the exhibition presents lived moments: true and real experiences of some people that actually lived it. Visitors can also see a documentary called “Being watched by the Security in the years ‘70s – ‘80s directed by Nicolae Margineanu. The exhibition is open between February 12 and March 05 2014 from 09:00 to 17:00.
