The Festival of Another kind of Christmas Trees – Piatra Neamt 2013
The most beloved custom during winter holidays is the preparation of the Christmas Tree, a custom that dates back in the old days before Christianity. The Tree represents the tree of knowledge of good and bad and the red apples placed in the tree signify the original sin.
The first Christmas Tree was in 1605 in a public market from Strasbourg and was decorated with red apples. This tradition quickly spread through the entire Europe and then to America and the rest of the continents. Today, a day before Christmas in every house there is a tree decorated with lights and glass balls.
This year, “Carmen Saeculare” Cultural and Art Center in partnership with Bibliopolis Libraries invite you to the festival of Another kind of Christmas Trees that will take place on December 13 2013 in “Sala de Pictura” of the center (Stefan cel Mare street, near Curtea Domneasca Plaza from Piatra Neamt). The event wants to present Christmas Trees made of recyclable materials made by children from Piatra Neamt.
The festival wants to prove that Christmas can be celebrate not only with real trees that get thrown to the garbage once the holiday is over but also with trees made of recyclable materials.
