Valuable collection of the Archiepiscopate of Roman and Bacau
The ruler Alexandru cel Bun supported the Orthodox Church to become a powerful institution and also created the Episcopate of Roman. He raised the church from Roman at the rank of Episcopate Cathedral. On September 13 2009 with the accord of the High Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church the Episcopate of Roman was raised at the rank of Archiepiscopate of Roman and Bacau.
Inside this religious complex are exposed a series of historical objects that represent true treasures of our past. There a series of embroideries, silver pieces, wood sculptures and religious clothing from XV and XVI centuries.
Among the silver objects some of the most interested are the cups of silver and gold, candles and disks. The Archiepiscopate of Roman and Bacau also has an impressive number of old books where we can read that in the XVII century the Episcope Dosoftei created the first Romanian poetic document, the Psalms in lyrics.
