Cecilia Haisan – local artisan from Piatra Neamt
Cecilia Haisan graduated from The Popular Art School from Piatra Neamt under the guidance of Professor Doina Daschievici. Lady Haisan was encouraged by her teacher to learn the art of religious icons painted on glass and to continue this art form that is well known in Transylvania region. This kind of painting was brought in our country first at Nicula Monastery. The main characteristic of this art consists in characters that don’t necessary follow the anatomical proportions but with a balanced chromatic.
For over 14 years the artisan Cecilia Haisan creates icons using techniques of over 500 years old. The paintings are made by following models that are first traced on paper and then applied on glass that is cleaned first.
The colors are applied using fine brushes and the gold foil is applied by using a personal method. The old style of the icons is enriched by the artistic vision of the artist. The icons are painted in vibrant colors and present well known biblical moments.
