Visit Tazlau area
The first documents that refer to Tazlau as an inhabited area are connected to the moment when Tazlau Monastery was built, between 1496 and 1497 by ruler Stefan cel Mare. On that time Tazlau was present on Moldova region’s map as a place covered with deep forests and a monastery. The village that surrounds the monastery developed over time in few stages. The villagers from here have a reputation of great house builders.
The area is a natural oasis crossed by Tazlau creek that is considers by the elders to be a gift of the village. Near the water there is “Magura Tazlaului” where there are some big stone walls named “The table of Stefan” (“Masa lui Stefan”).
Also in Tazlau area there is the memorial house I. I. Mironescu. The house is a museum that describes the way of life in these parts between the two world wars. In this house took placed several cultural meetings at which the writer Mihail Sadoveanu was present.
In this area can be visited old villages where the old traditions are still kept alive. The most common skill from these parts is carpentry and the villagers know how to create beautiful tables, cabinets and chairs.
