Adventure tourism in Bicaz Gorges area
Bicaz Gorges, because of their impressive proportions represents a true touristic attraction with spectacular images and numerous possibilities of entertainment. This place was carved by the waters of Bicaz creek in the chalk-rock of Hasmas Massif on a length of about 6 km and a depth of about 300 m.
In Bicaz Gorges there are places that wait tourist to discover it, there are savage environments hidden behind the stone walls that seem to touch the sky with their heights. The narrow valley, together with small waterfalls, isolated stone walls, caves and vertical stone walls form a picturesque image of these legendary places. This less known face of Bicaz Gorges can be admired by tourists that love adventure and like to hike on hidden trails that take you up on the stone walls.
For tourists that love hiking there are 18 touristic routes in Bicaz Gorges that offer unique images and memorable experiences. Behind the stone walls there is a whole world waiting to be discovered with alpine planes, haystacks and people that still live by the old ways.
Adventure tourism in Bicaz Gorges, Neamt County
Bicaz Gorges also offers some of the most difficult climbing routes for professional mountain climbers. This area has the highest number of maximum difficulty climbing routes in Romania. Some of the most interesting climbing routes are Peretele Mariei (Maria’s Wall), Piatra Altarului (The Altar’s Stone), Turnu Negru (The Black Tower), Peretele Poliţele Bardosului (Politele Bardosului Wall), Peretele Pintenilor, the Nordic Wall from Piatra Surducului (Surduc Stone).
The 6 km of national road that goes through Bicaz Gorges can be made by car but to admire the beauty of this place we recommend going on foot until you’ll reach another natural attraction Lacul Rosu (The Red Lake).
