muzeul-stramosilor-din-comuna-borcaIn Madei village from Borca commune was recently opened and Ethnographic Museum called “Stramosii”(The Ancestors) – a place dedicated to old traditions from Bistrita Valley. The exhibition of the museum is a testimony of the respect of the young generation to their parents and grandparents. Here, visitors can admire fabrics that used to decorate the interior of a traditional house, the folkloric traditional costume, objects made by local artisans that were used in daily jobs around the house or different celebrations or customs.

The museum was organized at the initiative of professors Ana and Gheorghe Bondar. For 30 years these two collected the objects and pieces that are now exhibited in the museum. The heritage of this place is a lifetime collection built from love and passion for traditions and customs. Together with traditional objects you can also see old photographs that illustrate how people lived in these parts – these represent pieces of history for us and for our children, to see and remember.

The museum is hosted in three rooms of the old school from the village. The exhibition contains folkloric objects and ethnographic pieces from the area, installations used in the daily jobs, furniture pieces and traditional clothing pieces.
