Dragobete is the Romanian equivalent of Valentine’s Day. We celebrate this holiday on February 24. This year on Thursday, February 24 2011 the celebration of Dragobete will be organized by “Carmen Saeculare” Cultural and Art Center together with “Calistrat Hogas” National College. The manifestation is organized on two main events and the purpose of this action is to preserve the traditions and customs related to this special day.

The first event will take place Thursday, February 24 2011. At this event the children from The Traditional Art School of “Carmen Saeculare” Cultural and Art Center invite you starting with 17:00 to see a painting exhibition dedicated to Dragobete. The painting class, under the guidance of Lacramioara Gheghici will exhibit a personal collection of paintings created by Elida Rotaru at the young age of 11, with the support of painter Arcadie Raileanu, .

At the exhibition you’ll also see decorative art creations made by children under the guidance of Ciprian Istrate and Lacramioara Gheghici.

The second event will take place Friday, February 25 2011, starting with 15:00 al “Calistrat Hogas” National College. The show will be called “The Celebration of Love in a Romanian traditional way”. The show will be created by the coir from “Calistrat Hogas” National College, the coir “Dumbravioara” of Dumbrava Rosie School and the folkloric bands Vanatori and Margineni. The concert will be closed by children from The Traditional Art School of “Carmen Saeculare” Cultural and Art Center under the guidance of Georgiana Axinte and Ioan and Claudiu Luchian.

At this concert will also participate artists Ana Dragu, Nicoleta Andrei, Paula Andrei and Miruna Negura.
