Between March 5 and 6, 2011, in Piatra Neamt, Neamt County will take place a new edition of the national folkloric contest-festival for children and young artists “Florile Ceahlaului” (translated, the name of the festival would be “Flowers of Ceahlau Mountain”). The contest is addressed to children and young artists that love traditional Romanian music with ages between 8 and 25. The contest will be organized on two main sections: one for ages from 8 to 15 and the other for the interval 16 – 25.

To enroll in this contest-festival, participants from Neamt County can do it until February 15, 2011 and for participants from other counties of Romania they can enroll until February 20, 2011. To enroll, the participants will have to complete a chart that can be downloaded from the website of the festival and fax it to the following number 0233 214 026 or on the e-mail address [email protected]. Participants will also have to send the songs that they’ll perform.

Participants have to present at the pre-selections, as well into the contest, a doina (doina is a traditional song that expresses a feeling of love, sorrow or revolt) and a song that is specific to the ethnographic area from where the contestant is coming. Participants will also have to have a secondary song that it’s possible to be used for a better evaluation by judges.

At the pre-selection, as well into the contest, the musical accompaniment will be organized by the band “Floricia de la Munte”. The organizers of the event will cover the expenses for accommodations between March 5 and 6. The transportation expenses have to be supported by participants.

For each of the two sections of the festival will exist three awards: First place 700 RON, Second place 500 RON and Third place 300 RON and a Special Mention of 200 RON.
