The First Edition of the Naïve Art Exhibition from Piatra Neamt
Between November 3 and November 6 2010, in Piatra Neamt will take place the first edition of an exhibition of Naïve Art, organized by “Carmen Saeculare” Cultural and Art Center. The event will take place at the gallery of the Folk School from Piatra Neamt, located in Mihail Kogalniceanu Plaza, bl H4, ground floor. The exhibition will contain works from artists that represent the Romanian Naïve Art with great success: Ioan Maric and Catinca Popescu (from Bacau), Gheorghe Ciobanu (from Baltati, Iasi county), Valentina Acasandrei (from Iasi) and Cecilia Haisan (from Piatra Neamt).
Here are some of the achievements of the artists that will exhibit their works for 3 days in Piatra Neamt:
Ion Maric is an awarded artist of the International Salon for Naïve Art from Bucharest and also a gold medalist at Milano, Venice (1973), Lugarno (1974) and Viaregal (1976). He was a prize winner at the National Festival of Naïve Art between 1970 and 2007 and over time he exhibited in over 80 personal exhibitions and also participated at over 500 collective exhibitions. Ion Maric was also awarded with the Special Prize of the Artists Union in 2007 (The ACAR Strasbourg Plate) and a Diploma for Excellence from the Europe Union Parliament in 2008.
Catinca Popescu: in over 30 years of artistic activity she created over 1000 works that were exhibited in numerous exhibitions, private collections and museum from Romania and other countries as well: Moldova, Cuba, United States, Canada, Great Britain, France, Italy, Australia, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Israel, Greece, Cyprus, Poland, Japan, Austria and Switzerland. In Romania here are some of the places where Catinca Popescu exhibited: Botosani, Vaslui, Pitesti, Bucharest, Arad, Dorohoi, Bacau, Resita, Iasi and Alba Iulia.
Gheorghe Ciobanu: through his unique artistic personality, Gheorghe Ciobanu is an important name in the Romanian Naïve Art. His constant participations since 1979 in exhibitions organized at the “Muzeul Taranului Roman” Museum (The Museum of the Romanian Peasant) or “Muzeul Satului” Museum from Bucharest (The Village Museum) made him the artist he is today. He also exhibited outside Romania since 1996. His works were presented in countries like France, Switzerland, Germany and Austria.
Valentina Acasandrei: she’s an artist that concentrates more on creating icons. Starting with the year 2000 she obtained many awards at national contests and festivals from Timisoara and Curtea de Arges.
Cecilia Haisan: her artistic career is also concentrated on painting naïve icons on glass. Her works were exhibited in private collections as well as public exhibitions from Piatra Neamt and Romania.
The opening of the Naïve Art Exhibition from Piatra Neamt will take place Tuesday, November 3 2010 at 17:00. There is also the possibility to buy the works exhibited. The gallery will be open between 10:00 and 18:00 during the 3 days of the exhibition.
