Saturday, November 20 2010, 18:00 in the room “Theodor Macarie” from the Art High School “Victor Brauner” from Piatra Neamt will take place a musical recital of the band Romanian Piano Trio as part of the fourth edition of the National Tour Music On. The tour started this year on October 10 and will contain 15 concerts in 14 towns of Romania.
Until now, Romanian Piano Trio sustained concerts in Hunedoara, Pitesti, Resita, Timisoara, Baia Mare, Cluj-Napoca, Brasov, Miercurea Ciuc, Iasi and Piatra Neamt. After the concert from Piatra Neamt, will also follow recitals in Bucharest, Medias and Targu Mures. The recital from Piatra Neamt will contain Trio in la minor by Maurice Ravel and Trio in mi major, op.90, “Dumky” by Antonin Dvorak. Romanian Piano Trio is formed by 3 of the most talented young Romanian musicians: Alexandru Tomescu at violin, Razvan Suma at cello and Horia Mihail at piano.
The violinist Alexandru Tomescu is a soloist of the National Radio Band from 2002. Over his career he performed in 26 countries, sustaining hundreds of concerts and recitals. His performances were appreciated in famous concert halls like Concertgebouwn from Amsterdam, Theatre des Champs Elysees Chatelet from Paris, Metropolitan Art Center from Tokio under the guidance of famous conductors like Kurt Masur, Christoph Eschenbach or Philippe Entremont. Alexandru Tomescu won in 2007 the right to play at the famous violin Stradivarius Elder-Voicu 1702 for five years.
The piano player Horia Mihail plays at this instrument since he was a little boy: his musical debut took place at the age of 10 and since then he performed in some of the greatest symphonic orchestras from New York, Paris, London, Bruxelles or Sankt Petersburg. Horia Mihail studied music in United States at the Illinois University, being a soloist of the orchestras Boston Pops (under the guidance of conductors John Williams and Keith Lockhart), Topeka Symphony, Boston University Symphony and University of Illinois Symphony.
Razvan Suma plays at cello and he studied at the Musical High School “Sigismund Toduta” and afterwards at the Musical Academy from Bucharest. He also studied at Longy School of Music from Cambridge. Over his career he performed in hundreds of concerts over Europe, America and Asia.
The National Tour Music On was a great success. This year the three artists are trying something different by performing in educational concerts and getting involved in different musical classes designated both to students and teachers. The Music On Tour is organized in partnership with the Radio Orchestras and Choirs and the Brandung Agency and supported by TVR Cultural.
The event is organized by Neamt County Council and “Carmen Saeculare” Cultural and Art Center, together with the Cultural Association Accendo and Radio Romania.
