The Consecration of the New Church from Pangarati Monastery: September 12, 2010
The new church from Pangarati Monastery will be consecrated on September 12, 2010. This new church sits on a small hill right beside the old church built by ruler Alexandru Lapusneanu. The old church from Pangarati Monastery is famous and unique because of its architecture. The particularity of this church is the fact that there are two churches on top of each other.
Pangarati Monastery had a troubled past and all the things that happen affected the religious life from this place that was built in XV century. Despite all the hard moments Pangarati Monastery remains an important religious location where thousands of believers, pilgrims and tourists come to pray or just to visit it.
The monastery was extended starting with 1991 when it was re-opened as a monastery of monks. The abbot Teofil together with the other monks and with the help of people managed to restore the religious life at Pangarati Monastery.
Starting with 2003 they began the construction of a new church on a small hill near the monastery. From then they managed to finish the construction, to paint the inside and the outside of the church (this operation took about two years), to rebuild the bell tower and the access ways to the monastery.
The patrons of the new church are St Amfilohie, St Simeon and All the Romanian Saints. At the event from September 12, 2010 will be present the Archbishop of Iasi Father Teofan. The religious service will begin at 08:00 and will continue with the traditional Sunday service. This consecration service takes place at 450 years from the first consecration from Pangarati Monastery.
