Short description
The art museum “Iulia Halaucescu” was first opened in November 2003 in the village Tarcau, in the building where was once was the old school. The place was rebuilt almost entirely with the support of the local authorities and some art lovers. The permanent exhibition covers 100 square meters.
The museum is formed by six rooms that host 120 art works and personal belongings of Iulia Halaucescu. All that can be seen in the museum was donated by the painter to her birth village Tarcau.
The museum manages to reconstruct some aspects from the life of the artist and to also light a glimpse of the past. The atmosphere of the house in which Iulia Halaucescu lived is brought to life by pieces of furniture and ornamental objects.
