Short history
The Braditel Monastery looks like an old stronghold. This place was often used as shelter and defense point. The trouble past of this place begins in 1927 when few priests, monks and nuns were forced to leave their monasteries and go into the forests. The monastery was for nuns and the first abbot was Macaria Samoila: she is the one that started the development of this place.
After the earthquake from 1977 the church of the monastery was badly damaged and this was the reason for building a new church in 1988. The monastery is built out of brick on a concrete foundation. Today, here are 124 nuns that are living after the rule “pray and work”. Their daily activities consist in working for the monastery in workshops of painting, sculpture and tapestry and in agriculture.
